How to select your base tone using the new tone codes 

Determine your level and undertone in the tones code (shown above near the name of the tone). The point where they converge is your exact tone.    

For example, if your skin tone is Level 1 and your undertone is Warm, it would be L1*W1 Buff (the lighter) or L1*W2 Cream (slightly darker, more intense that Buff).       

1. DETERMINE YOUR LEVEL 

LEVEL: the intensity of your natural skin tone. 

L1 – Light

L2– Medium

L3– Between medium and dark 

L4– Dark

L5 & L6 – Intense dark 

2.      DETERMINE YOUR UNDERTONE 

UNDERTONE: undertones are designated as Warm – W, Neutral – N or Cool – C. 

The number near your undertone symbol shows the level of intensity/brightness of the tone. 

Warm (W): does your skin have a golden or olive hue? Do you receive more compliments when wearing browns, dark greens, oranges or yellows? If you answered “yes” to most questions, your undertone is Warm.         

Neutral (N): does your skin have a uniform tone, a neutral tone that is neither pink nor golden? Is there any colour of clothing that looks particularly good on you? If you answered “yes” to most questions, your undertone is Neutral.            

Cool (C): Does your skin have a pink or pinkish tone? Do you receive more compliments when wearing pinks, purples, blues and whites? If you answered “yes” to most questions, your undertone is Cool.

Use fingertips, a sponge or a foundation brush to smooth foundation over face. Once applied, blend in an outward direction.
